Scott Winget, Market Leader, Enterprise Families
Scott Winget is the market leader for Enterprise Families at Family Office Exchange (FOX). In his role, Scott serves as Co-Chair for Enterprise Councils and Executive Councils, where members can share experiences, ideas and best practices with veteran peers in a confidential environment. Scott also serves as relationship manager for Enterprise Family members, in order to understand their unique needs and provide them with access to important research and objective guidance. He is as a member of the FOX leadership team, helping to develop and execute service strategies designed to meet the needs of his market segment, and also participates in new research and thought leadership meaningful to members.
Serving families for over 25 years in the areas or family office, wealth management and estate and tax planning, Scott brings significant experience to FOX and its members. Prior to joining FOX, Scott created and led multi-disciplinary and award-winning consulting groups that provided comprehensive family office services at both Cresset and Ascent Private Capital Management. Earlier, he was a senior wealth planner at Wells Fargo Family Wealth (later, Abbot Downing) and began his career as an income tax and estate planning specialist with Arthur Andersen and EY.
Scott has participated in the FOX community for over 15 years. Scott is a CPA and holds a J.D. from The Ohio State University, where he also earned a B.S. in Business Administration with a dual major in Accounting and Finance. He is a member of the Rocky Mountain Estate Planning Council, Colorado Society of CPAs and the Colorado Bar Association. He has also held several securities and insurance licenses and served on the board of the Mountain Area Land Trust as Treasurer and head of the Finance Committee among other roles with non-profits.
Kent Lawson Director, Technology Integration Service
Kent Lawson is Director of Technology Integration Services at Family Office Exchange (FOX). With 25 years of experience as a leader in the wealth management industry, and a deep focus in technology for the family office, Kent’s expertise in consulting, project management, analysis, and diligence around technology drives the FOX Technology Marketplace.
Prior to joining FOX, Kent had an established relationship with FOX as a market leader and as a member. Through his previous role with an enterprise family office and as a contributor to FOX forums, Kent brings over a decade of experience serving at the executive level within a single family office. His expertise in wealth management spans a variety of disciplines, including investment operations, technology, and compliance via working with RIAs, the SEC, and Global Investment Performance Standards (GIPS). He also served as a business analyst and consultant for Advent Software, as COO of a trust company, and other technology solution vendors. Kent also founded an outsource COO firm in the wealth management industry providing strategic leadership as a trusted advisor.
With a degree in Music Performance from Ball State University, Kent spent his early years performing as a jazz saxophonist and married another musician, which led him to his “day job” within the wealth industry as a part-time file clerk with an RIA. His background in creativity and thinking outside the box provided the foundation needed for designing innovative solutions in business process and technology making him perfectly suited for the family office industry.
Sara Hamilton, Founder and Board Chair
Sara Hamilton is the founder and Board Chair of Family Office Exchange (FOX), a definitive source of information and best practices associated with the business of managing family wealth across generations. The strength of the FOX network is derived from the collective knowledge and experience of more than 340 globally-minded family enterprises in 20 countries.
Since 1989, FOX has made solutions accessible to financial families by fostering dialogue among wealth owners, family office executives, and wealth advisors. In 2009, FOX celebrated its 20th anniversary of service and remains true to its founding mission of objectivity in wealth management, member education, and shared knowledge across a sophisticated, global network of families and leading wealth advisors.
Sara is the co-author of Family Legacy and Leadership: Preserving True Family Wealth in Challenging Times, © 2010, Wiley & Sons. She serves on the executive education faculty of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business for the private wealth management course offered twice a year in Chicago.
In 2009 and 2010, Sara was named as one of the “Top 50 Women in Wealth Management” by Wealth Manager. She serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Wealth Management and Trusts and Estates as well as the founding board of the Chicago Global Donors Network.
Prior to founding FOX, Sara worked in marketing and strategy at Harris Bank and AT&T Information Systems. She holds a B.A. from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from the University of North Florida.
David Toth, Managing Director
David Toth is a managing director at FOX. In his role, he constructs actionable insights and strategic analyses for family offices and wealth management advisor members. He developed a pathway of initiatives that assist family offices and wealth advisors in building pricing strategies, elevating client experience, talent management strategies and optimizing team structure, and achieving profitable growth. David has authored a number of reports including our recently published study on the “Transformation of the Ultra-Wealth Business.” David serves as co-moderator of FOX’s Multi-Family Office (MFO), Integrated Wealth Advisor (IWAC) Councils, and the Strategic CIO Council (SCIOC).
David brings over thirty years of wealth and investment management, marketing, and strategic consulting experience to FOX and its members. He held key leadership positions in the Asset Management Division at PNC Financial formulating and implementing growth strategies that helped to more than double the size of their wealth and ultra-high net worth businesses.
David earned a B.B.A. majoring in Marketing and an M.B.A. majoring in Finance & Economics from University of Michigan and the University of Detroit/Mercy, respectively. In addition, David has completed Leadership and Executive Development programs at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School.
Miguel López de Silanes, Managing Director, Europe and Latin America
Miguel López de Silanes Gómez is the FOX Market Leader for Europe and Latin America. He is responsible for delivering FOX services to current members and also works actively to expand the network in Europe and Latin America. His base is in Madrid, but he spends half of his time in Latin America.
Miguel has most recently been director of the family office for one of Europe’s leading real estate families, with specific responsibility for designing and implementing the family’s investment strategy and for providing owner education to the younger family members.
Previously, he worked at UBS Wealth Management in NY, Chile, and other locations in Latin America. He began his career at Bain & Company as an Associate Consultant in London and Madrid.
Mindy Kalinowski Earley, CMP, CFBA, Chief Learning Officer
Mindy Earley is an education and family office professional who believes that empowerment and knowledge are key to living a purpose-driven and self-actualized life. She is inspired by helping people learn, grow and discover the way that they will make personal and productive contributions, using their strengths and talents.
Mindy has held various roles in small and large family offices and has been responsible for creating and stewarding professional learning networks in support of human and intellectual capital. She has designed learning experiences that increase the knowledge base and enhance the life path of individuals while providing personalized support and coaching to help them meet their goals. After spending over a decade working in higher education Mindy is skilled in program creation for the student and young adult population. Her work included developing pioneering programs for learners to engage and thrive in college and through life after college.
John Michael Streithorst, Director of Strategic Projects
In his role as Director of Strategic Projects, John Michael provides strategic advice and customized solutions as a FOX consultant for US and international families and provides support to the global membership expansion initiatives.
John Michael brings practical experience to the consulting team, having spent 25+ years working for multigenerational single family offices in a wide range of roles. Prior to joining FOX, he was asked by a first generation wealth creator to help launch a dedicated office to manage his recently acquired liquidity. John Michael helped to translate the founder’s goals into clear vision and mission statements, implemented a remuneration strategy that fostered his desired corporate culture, and developed procedures and controls for managerial and financial reporting. He developed appropriate KPIs for monitoring all portfolio investments and assets, and he coordinated the outside advisors that executed the tax, estate, and trust planning when the principal decided to permanently relocate to the United States.
Previously, John Michael worked for 10 years for a Brazilian multi-billion dollar second generation family office, where he became the managing director responsible for the family’s global direct investment strategy. John Michael acted as trusted advisor to individual members of the third generation, providing support on the analysis, execution, monitoring and exiting of direct investments.
John Michael acted as interim CEO and CFO of portfolio companies, represented families and investor’s interests in 17 boards of directors and audit committees, including two NYSE traded corporations, on three continents and in a wide variety of industries. He earned a B.S. in Business management from Universidad Gama Filho in Brazil and is fluent in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
