The FOX Owner/Operator '10 Council is composed of family members who directly oversee the operation of their family's financial enterprise, with or without staff, working together to share insights and strategies.
The purpose of this council is to provide a forum for these leaders to test ideas, get peer advice, and learn from appropriate experts to improve their performance in managing the family’s wealth and preparing the family for the future.
Each Council works from a FOX developed curriculum that is tailored to the needs of the Council. Meetings include content from the curriculum as well as specific topics and discussions requested by the Council members. FOX provides the appropriate internal and external resources for lively, fruitful meetings.

Future Roles in the Family Business for the Rising Generation
Speaker and Member Panelists
In this panel discussion moderated by a speaker, the panelists will discuss their current thoughts around the future roles in the family business and family office for family members and new entrants in the family. Based on their experiences of employing (or not) family members in the family office or the operating business we will learn about their varied philosophies, as well as the processes they created around selection, compensation, conflicts, etc. Find out which ones worked, which ones did not and why.
Spousal Roles in the Family – Group Discussion
Each of you has experienced “onboarding” new in-laws, presenting prenuptial agreements, managing divorce situations, and addressing the inclusion of stepchildren with multiple marriages, and deftly and gracefully handling conflict-riddled “blended” family matters. In this focused peer dialogue, we will explore through your own experiences how your philosophy developed and has evolved and share best practices in this complex and at times difficult topic of spousal roles in the family.
Peer Dialogue, FOX Facilitators
As part of an ongoing series, the speaker will share their family’s investment philosophy and approach, along with what shaped what they do and why they do it. They will also share their recent experiences retaining an external CIO and the process and factors that led to their hire along with current asset allocation and overall range of performance. Speaker will also talk about some ongoing concerns including complexity, private investments and social responsible investing.
Shameful Secrets: Addressing Substance Use Disorders and Mental Health Concerns in Family Enterprises
Speakers will discuss how substance use disorders and other chronic mental and behavioral health issues present significant risks to family well-being and wealth preservation. Unlike traditional medical problems, these issues carry shame and stigma, which makes families reluctant to discuss them and less likely to get appropriate help. Through a series of case studies and examples, they will discuss how to successfully raise the concern, navigate a fragmented system, plan for similar challenges and utilize or develop existing trust and estate documents to promote healthy beneficiaries.
Peer Dialogue Continued and as timing allows a Group Discussion around the HBR Article
Having read the HBR article everyone should come prepared to share their opinions on the impact of engagement in family and within the family offices, the current state of employee engagement in their offices, and anecdotes about how they are creating greater employee engagement through teams or otherwise.
